New Japan Road To Dontaku Night 7 4/23

Night two of a three night stint at the legendary Korakuen Hall for new Japan where they will also announce the Best of The Super Juniors 2019 lineup. You can see results for yesterday’s show in our previous article.

Satoshi Kojima, Yuji Nagat, & Toa Henare b. Shota Umino, Yuya Uemera, & Yota Tsuji when Henare pinned Uemera with a Uranage – Tsuji slapped Kojima before the bellm and hit him with a dropkick as soon as the bell rang. Umino and Nagata brawled on the floor while Henare stayed with Tsuji in the ring. Kojima tagged back in and hit Tsuji with the Machine Gun Chops. It’s notable that Tsuji has not tagged out yet. Kojima landed an elbow for a pin, but Uemera broke it up. Umino finally tagged in and showed some fire against Kojima and Nagata. Uemera got the tag against Henare. A Double Arm Suplex by Uemera got a two count. Henare fired up, and hit a Brainbuster followed by a Uranage for the pinfall.

Suzuki-Gun (Minoru Suzuki, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, & El Desperado) b. Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask IV, & Ren Narita when Desperado pinned Narita with a Pinche Loco – Last night, Liger challenged Suzzuki in a post match interview. He said if he beat Suzuki,l that Suzuki should retire. No clear word whether Suzuki accepted that challenge or not. Anyway, this time the babyfaces attacked first, and Narita slapped Suzuki. Before Liger could put Suzuki into a surfboard, Deparado broke the hold. This caused the brawl to spill out to the floor. Liger and Suzuki exchanged strikes when the match got back in the ring. Suzuki won, and placed Liger in a half crab. The heels worked over Liger until he got the hot tag to Tiger, who managed to clear the ring. Narita tagged in and hit a Northern Lights Suplex on Desperado, which got broken by Suzuki. A Pinche loco later, and the heels won the match.

Suzuki-Gun (RevPro British Champion Zack Sabre Jr., Taichi, & Taka Michinoku) Rocky Romero, YOSHI-HASHI, & Tomoaki Honma when Taichi submitted Romero with a Stretch Plum – For once, the heels didn’t attack before the match because the babyfaces were ready. But once the match went to the floor, the heels took over and worked over Hashi. Honma got the tag and chopped down Taka. Romero and Honma did dual Kokeshis before Taka tagged to Taichi. Before Taichi could do much damage, Honma got the hot tag to Romero. Rocky got several near-falls, then got decked with a superkick. When Honma and Hashi were unable to make teh save, Romero was forced to submit.

After the match, Sabre put Hashi and a few Young Lions at ringside into submission holds.

IWGP US Champion Juice Robinson, Mikey Nicholls, Togi Makabe, & Toru Yano Bullet Club (Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, Bad Luck Fale, & Chase Owens) when Nicholls pinned Owens with a Mikey Bomb – Jado and Tama teased dissension from the mistake last night, but of course, Jado turned and struck all the babyfaces. That caused the heels to run wild in the opening minutes. Strangely enough, they got the heat on Makabe. Juice got the hot tag, with Nicholls joining in on the comeback. Juice hit a cannonball on Fale, but then started favoring his back. He was unable to lift Fale for a slam, which allowed Fale to tag Owens. A multi-man brawl broke out, leaving Owens and Nicholls in the ring. Juice kept the heels at bay while Nicholls got the win with a Mikey Bomb.

Hirooki Goto, IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, & Ryusuke Taguchi b. Bullet Club (Jay White, Taiji Ishimori, & Hikuleo w/ Gedo) when Goto pinned Hikuleo with a GTR – Goto struck White before the bell, which kickstarted the match. The heels regrouped and took the match to the floor, and Ishimori tried to unmask Lee. Taguchi cleared the ring, and did a one man celebration. White tossed him out of the ring for his efforts, then got hit with a Ushigoroshi from Goto. After an Ushigoroshi on Hikuleo, Goto followed up with a GTR for the pin.

Los Ingobernables De Japon (Tetsuya Naito, EVIL, & Shingo Takagi) b. IWGP Intercontinental Champion Kota Ibushi, Tomohiro Ishii, & Sho when Naito pinned Sho with Destino – Back and forth action throughout. Naito hit a top rope hurricanrana on Sho, but Ibushi stopped a Destino attempt. Everybody hit some of their big moves while Show recovered. Takagi hit a Pumping Bomber to stop Sho’s comeback. Naito then hit Destino for the win.

After the match, Ishii brawled with EVIL, and Ibushi taunted Naito with the IC Title Belt.

IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada & Yoh of CHAOS b. SANADA & BUSHI of Los Ingobernables De Japon when Okada pinned BUSHI with a Rainmaker – The Junior Heavyweights started out with dueling strikes before Yoh got cut off. Okada made a brief comeback after a tag, but Sanada stopped him with the Paradise Lock. Soon, it as back to Yoh and Bushi. The match went to the floor, where Yoh hit a dive on everybody. Back in the ring, Yoh hit a superkick. Okada took it from there, and hit a dropkick and tombstone. He then finished off Bushi with a Rainmaker.

After the match, Okada cut a promo saying there is still time until Sanada’s title shot. He then thanked Yoh for his efforts and handed Yoh the mic. Yoh excited the fans and said he and Sho will retain the titles in Hiroshima.
